The AXA Global Challenge - “A Walk to Remember”

As a company that cares about the environment and community, AXA celebrated its annual Corporate Responsibility (CR) Week from 11 to 15 June 2012. One of the highlights of the week was an event called The AXA Global Challenge which was held on 12 June 2012. AXA employees worldwide were encouraged to walk, run or cycle to achieve the Earth’s 40,000 km circumference. This activity was intended to create environment awareness by reducing the carbon dioxide emission and to promote healthy lifestyle. Apart from helping the environment, we also raised funds for our local charity. AXA Group donated Euro 1 to each entity’s selected charity for every 1 km covered.

In Singapore, over 400 AXA employees put on their sports gear with AXA tee-shirts, and their big smiles for the big walk. As ONE big AXA family, they took off from AXA Tower for a 7 km walk to Singapore Flyer and back. It was an extremely hot afternoon but the enthusiasm of the employees to take part in this Global Challenge was heartwarming.

At the end of the Challenge, AXA employees clocked in 198,000 km which equates to almost 5 times around the earth and raised Euro 198,000 (equivalent to S$317,000) for charity! AXA Singapore raised a total of S$7,350 for the AXA “Hearts in Action” risk education project. Singapore was among 57 countries which took part in the global effort. The money raised was donated to Melrose Home, the Company’s adopted charity in Singapore.
